I've Been Recruited

Lindsay has been bugging me to start a blog for a couple of months since she started one. I do enjoy reading other people's blogs, but wonder if enough happens in my life to tell people about. I was so apprehensive to start a blog that Lindsay finally just created it for me and told me to start writing. So I am taking a crack at it.

I grew up in Arizona but have been in Idaho for the last 10 years. Doug and I have been married for over 27 years and have 6 children. Logan, our oldest has been married for 2-1/2 years and has our only grandchild, Gwen, who is 16 months. He and his wife, Rachelle, are expecting our second granddaughter in February. Logan will graduate in 4 weeks from BYU-Idaho.

Lindsay has been married for a year to Ronnie Thinnes. She works at Melaleuca and is multitalented. She likes to decorate cakes and do hair. She catches on quickly to most anything she tries. And she is a bundle of energy and makes me tired just watching her.

Nathan just got engaged and is planning a March 21st wedding in the Idaho Falls temple. His fiance' is Rebecca Simmons. She's a real doll and will fit into our family well. He is going to ISU and hoping to get into pharmacy school next year.

Brendan is serving a mission in the Brazil Goiania mission. He has been out for 9 months and is doing really well. I live for his emails on Tuesdays, which, by the way, he is not very adept at writing. He is very consistent, but doesn't write very newsy ones and seldom answers any questions I ask. But at least I know he is OK and it puts my mind at rest for another week.

Emma-Leigh, who has begun to go by Emma since we moved to Soda Springs (hate it), is a junior and has fit in well here in Soda. She is outgoing and has lots of friends. She loves volleyball, which she only started when we moved here. She played on the Freshman team when she was a Sophomore and the JV team this year. She got to suit up for varsity for districts, which made her and us very proud. She plays violin and takes the opportunity to play whenever she can. She will be in the Christmas community orchestra and is planning on playing in the orchestra for the school play this year.

Maci is our little diva. She likes to dress up and do crazy things with her hair. She has to match perfectly with all her clothes and accessories, including fingernails. She, too enjoys volleyball and hopes to play in high school next year. She likes to do counted cross stitch and is due to have her 14th birthday in December.

I am working as a special ed. aide at the elementary school and find it very challenging work. I especially like the fact that we have four-day school weeks and that I have 3-day weekends every week. The only thing I don't like about my work is that I don't get paid during the summers and it makes it a little hard to make ends meet.

Doug loves his job as a high school principal. He really gets into it. He especially likes making signs for the different sports and the teams all think he is great for doing it. He goes to most of the events so, needless to say, he isn't home a whole lot. I go to most of the games to support the teams and to be able to at least be in the same room as Doug.

Yeah! I'm so proud! You'll love it...it's way fun! Now maybe I'll find stuff out first hand instead of from Bren in Brazil! Seriously!
